We strive to produce well-bred golden retriever puppies. And we want our customer homes to be satisfied with their pups!
While nothing in life is 100% guaranteed, we try to minimize our buyers' risk when obtaining a golden retriever from us. And by knowing about any genetic issues, we can further improve our breeding program.
To be covered by our 4-year hip, heart, eyes & elbows warranty and receive any pay-backs for titles, OFA health clearances, or the $50 optional spay/neuter reimbusements:
1.We ask that FLODEN be listed as prefix or suffix of your pup's AKC registered name. (For example, your dog's call name is "Mosey", however her AKC registered name on her papers is Floden's Mosey Up North. Or, your dog's call name is Bella, however you have your own kennel name you wish to establish and so you may choose MyKennel's Yellow Belle of Floden as the registered name.)
The registered name can be as creative as you like! And we'll even pay the basic, individual AKC registration cost for you.
2. The dog must be owned by the original buyer and not changed owners.
3. For the health warranty for inherited diseases or disorders affecting hips, eyes, heart or elbows, the dog must not have sired or whelped a litter, and be in otherwise good health (not overweight, for example, which would mean a possible environmental cause of hip or elbow dysplasia). Activities such as repetitive jumping or diving, jumping off tailgates, or agility (other than low-impact) should not be performed prior to the dog's growth plates being closed (18-24 months). The dog must not have been abused, and the dog must not be older than its fourth birthday. Hip and elbow certifications are recommended to be performed close to 24 months, so long as females aren't going into heat. It is also known that if dogs haven't been exercised well in the winter they sometimes do not get as good of an OFA rating. Exercise such as swimming throughout the summer then OFA x-rays performed in fall often get better passing rates. Cardiac clearances can be performed at 12 months for OFA certifications and OFA eye certifications can be done at any age, and are recommended yearly if desired for our Paybacks.
3. For spay/neuter reimbursement, pups must be unbred and the spay/neuter must be performed and proper documentation of the procedure sent to Floden Farm within 18 months of pup's age.
4. The maximum payback amount on all title, health certifications, spay/neuter & reimbursements is up to 50% of the original purchase price of your pup, unless your pup should ever need to be returned. Those details are covered under the Warranty, below.
Warranty:
All of our puppies are warrantied to 4 years of age for hip, elbows, eyes and heart. This allows time for OFA hip and elbow certifications, which are typically performed at 24 months of age. FLODEN'S must be listed as the prefix, or FLODEN the suffix of your pup's AKC registered name, and the dog must be owned by the original buyer and not changed owners.
Within 7 days of purchasing, you can return your pup or Kindergarten pup for a refund (less deposit) of the purchase price for any reason. Due to the cost of rehoming and advertising, we do not offer reimbursement after 7 business days. Buyer is responsible for all costs of returning the puppy. We encourage you to visit your veterinarian for an exam during this time. (For return of a pup with an existing health issue under Minnesota law, pups are returnable within 10 days with paperwork from a veterinarian stating the condition existed at the time of transfer. Where Minnesota law benefits the purchaser more, those rules will apply.)
----------------------------------
Within 4 years of your pup's age, if there is a genetic health problem affecting the hips, eyes, heart or elbows, such as elbow or hip dysplasia, cardiac or inheritable eye problems that aren't known as "breeder option codes" (common parasites excluded) verified by a licensed veterinarian through OFA or CERF with your pup precluding it to be nonfunctional or unbreedable, there are two courses of options:
1. Buyer opts to return the dog or put the dog to sleep - The dog must be returned to us in otherwise good health or put to sleep by your veterinarian, and a letter from the veterinarian stating they have done so, must be sent to us. The dog's registration certificate must be returned to us signing ownership back. The entire current purchase price (less Paybacks already paid by Floden Farm) of the dog covered by this warranty may be applied to a puppy from any FLODEN litter of your choice for a replacement pup. If buyer does not wish to own another Floden dog, they may elect the cashback option of up to but not exceeding the original purchase price of the pup (less any Paybacks already paid by Floden Farm).
2. Buyer opts to keep the dog - We require a licensed veterinarian's written proof of spaying or neutering. The dog's registration certificate must be returned, signing ownership back to us. Following this procedure, you are entitled to another FLODEN puppy at half the current purchase price (less any Paybacks already paid by Floden Farm). If buyer does not wish to own another Floden dog, they may elect the cashback option of up to but not exceeding half the original purchase price of the pup (less any Paybacks already paid by Floden Farm).
Seller does not pay veterinary fees, or any other associated costs such as shipping, OFA or exam fees, etc.

Why a payback system? As a serious hobby breeder, Floden Farm has found the best way to encourage new puppy owners to work with their puppies, get the necessary health clearances, and encourage owners who do not plan to carefully breed their dogs to get their dogs spayed or neutered is through a payback program offering cash rewards for new puppy owners doing the right thing.
- Paybacks for titles help Floden Farm establish their name for assessing the trainability of their breeder dogs' progency.
- Paybacks for health clearances help Floden Farm gain useful information about their breedings.
- Paybacks for spay/neuter agreements encourage potential puppy buyers to consider the temperament over the sex of the dog and helps protect Floden Farm's breeding program.
Floden Farm offers the following paybacks to its purebred puppy owners: AKC/UKC Titles Paybacks* and OFA certification Paybacks*
